Our busy Race Department is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our professional and experienced team of Snowsports events operatives. Join one of the world’s most innovative companies and re-imagine a mountain experience with us. Welcome to Vail Resorts Australia!
Race Department is a tight-knit team who work together to host races and events across the spectrum of Snowsports events throughout the season. Race and Events Department Team Members are involved in all aspects of ski and snowboard event/race operations. Every day is a new adventure and we are looking for personable individuals who have a strong work ethic, love being outdoors and are seeking to gain experience in Snowsports event production and ski industry operations.
Successful applicants can either be employed on a Full-Time (all season) or Part-Time basis.
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Performing daily set-up, operation and maintenance of race and event venues/facilities such as installing fences, tents, banners, cabling, etc.
Operation of timing systems, recording race results and calculations
Working with other staff and departments to promote a positive guest experience
Setting and maintaining daily training/race facilities to ensure safety of all guests and staff
Create outstanding guest experiences during all event operations.

To be considered for this role, applicants must:

Be at least 18 years of age
Complete an online video interview
Have completed High School Certificate (or equivalent) secondary education
Possess physical fitness – must be able to work outside in inclement weather for 8+ hours per day
Be able to lift, carry and ski with 20+ kg of equipment
Have a high level skiing ability and be able to ski in all conditions
Be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written)
Be a team player who is able to work productively in a team environment
Be flexible with schedule – must be able to work weekends, early mornings, evenings, holidays, etc.
Be open minded and ready to learn new skills.

Desirable skills, qualifications and experience:

Race or Event official credentials (EG: Snowsport event official, timing and calculations, course setting or judging, qualifications/experience)
Snowsports competition background
Snowsports industry operations experience
Coaching background (Snowsports – alpine, freestyle)
Excellent communication skills, with experience in guest service
A strong knowledge of the resort
Ability to work with power tools
Basic computer navigation skills and ability to use Windows-based programs
Race Course or event operations experience.

Please be aware that as the position of Race Department Course Worker will involve having direct contact with resort guests under 18 years of age, all successful applicants will be required to obtain and provide details of their NSW Working With Children Check clearance. Police Checks as well as Child Check clearances from other states or territories will not be accepted.
